Cloudy Pictures Inc. is an independent film production company owned by New York-based, Canadian filmmaker Nick Butler whose debut feature film The Legacy of Cloudy Falls is being released theatrically and on VOD in 2024 by Filmoption International. His short films have screened at over thirty international film festivals including Toronto’s Inside Out LGBTQ Film Festival, The Newport Beach Film Festival and The Provincetown Film Festival . His work has received funding from Telefilm Canada, the National Film Board of Canada, The Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. He also has extensive experience in casting including as casting associate on the Matt Damon film Downsizing on which he worked closely with Oscar-winning director Alexander Payne. Other credits include casting director of the critically acclaimed Canadian feature Dim the Fluorescents which won a grand jury prize at Slamdance and in the casting department of HBO’s The Rehearsal, HBO’s Euphoria, Oscar-winning feature film Room, Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak, Hulu’s Handmaid’s Tale and many more. He is currently developing his second feature Lunar Sway which received development funding from the Canada Council for the Arts.

Dmitry Lopatin (cinematographer): Dmitry Lopatin is a Canadian cinematographer based in Toronto. After graduating with a BFA in film production from York University, Dmitry has gone on to shoot seven feature films in addition to numerous commercials and documentaries. Dmitry shot The Legacy of Cloudy Falls and is attached to Cloudy Pictures’ next feature Lunar Sway. Other recent credits include the 2023 TIFF-screened feature I Don’t Know Who You Are, the thriller Neon Lights, which was distributed by E One and released on Netflix, Queen of the Morning Calm, Gloria Kim’s award-winning debut feature and the upcoming horror film Son of Sara. He has been nominated for several Canadian Society of Cinematographers awards, including for the popular web series Teenagers (2014-2017), and most recently for Neon Lights in 2023. Grace Glowicki (actor/writer/director/producer): Grace Glowicki is an acclaimed actor and filmmaker who won the Special Jury Prize for acting from the Sundance Film Festival in 2016 and was named a TIFF rising star the same year. She stars in The Legacy of Cloudy Falls and is also attached to Cloudy Pictures’ next feature film Lunar Sway.  She has previously appeared in films including Booger (which debuted at Fantasia Film Festival in 2023 and received rave reviews, scoring over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes), Paper Moon, Suck it Up, We Forgot to Break Up, the TIFF-screened Raf, the TIFF-screened Until Branches Bend, acclaimed filmmaker Kentucker Audley’s Strawberry Mansion and many others. She also directed and starred in the 2019 feature film Tito which was short listed for the John Dunning Best First Feature Award at the Canadian Screen Awards. She can next be seen in the upcoming feature film Dead Lover which she also wrote, directed and produced.

Adrian Ellis & Walker Grimshaw (composers): Adrian and Walker collaborated to create the original score for The Legacy of Cloudy Falls and are set to re-team for Cloudy Pictures’ next project, Lunar Sway. Adrian is known for his inventive, concept-driven approach to creating scores including a live, single take recording for the film Last Call, and using an ensemble of junk metal and power tools for the film Timebox.  Feature film work includes NBC’s The Scarehouse, Shudder Original’s The Strings, To Hell With Harvey and Cult Hero, which garnered him a Canadian Screen Award nomination in 2023Walker Grimshaw is known for the diversity of his sound, combining traditional acoustic instruments with a more experimental, electronic palette. Recent credits include AMI’s Breaking Character, Vice’s Net Worth, Paramount+’s 26th Street Garage, the theme for TVO Arts and the documentary Dear Audrey (NFB) for which he received a Canadian Screen Award nomination. Chelsea Preston (costume designer): Chelsea is the costume designer on The Legacy of Cloudy Falls, their first feature. Prior costume department credits include on short films Discretion and Bum Peeper and numerous commercials including for TD Bank, Canadian Tire, Moosehead Breweries and BetterHelp. They are also an accomplished actor who starred as Roxy Hart in the musical Chicago at the Stratford Festival for renowned theatre director Donna Feore. While at Stratford, they also performed in the concert No One is Alone: A Sondheim Celebration. Screen credits include FX’s What We Do In the Shadows, HBO’s Station Eleven, long-running series Murdoch Mysteries, National Geographic’s Hot Zone and the lead role in the forthcoming feature film Fortescue. A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Chelsea is passionate about telling queer stories. When not busy costume designing and acting, Chelsea can be seen and heard singing original music and covers at venues around Toronto.
